Roman Tressler is the Chief Range Safety Officer (RSO), Firearms instructor and owner of Modern Sword. Roman is a US Army, combat veteran and served overseas during Operation Enduring Freedom. While in military service, he has completed various combative and non-combative training with various infantry, non-infantry and Special forces groups. He was also trained by Baltimore PD S.W.A.T, and various NRA Courses and certifications. He brings real world tactics, knowledge, and experience to Modern Sword and their students.
Many of Roman's passions outside teaching, and using firearms is his Family. He is a father to 3 Daughter and Married to his wife for 20 years. He enjoys Blacksmithing, hiking, camping, cigars, and spending time with his family and friends. He is always one to joke and tries to ensure everyone he is around is having a good and memorable time.
Dex Robinson is Modern Swords Deputy Chief Range Safety Officer (D.C. RSO), Firearms Instructor, and owner. Dex brings years of shooting experience ranging from competitive shooting training, and training with top tier shooters from the competition world and former Special Forces soldiers. He enhances Modern Sword by focusing on speed and accuracy, and brings a unique perspective and ability to make our students and instructors more efficient and effective.
Dex has many passions out side of the firearms world. Such as Reading the Bible, Fitness ,Cars, Anime, and Chess. He enjoys spending quality time with his sisters, nieces and parents, and his friends. If you are ever looking for a hype man or someone to push you to be the best, there is no one better than Dex.
Danielle "Danie" Russell is one of Modern Swords Range Safety Officers (RSO), and Instructors. After years of training, drilling and shooting, she has become one of Modern Swords favored RSO's. She brings a woman's perspective when it comes to shooting, and brings joy and comfort to many women. Her caring and understanding nature, mixed with her grit and toughness shows and empowers many of our students. Which gives them confidence and the capability to be able to handle firearms and challenging situations.
Besides her passion for shooting, Danny enjoys a very social life, often traveling, and spending lots time with close friends, and family. She also enjoys the fine things in life like food and cars, and unlike many people her age, drives a manual.
Brett Armon is one of Modern Swords Range Safety Officers and Instructors. He is also Modern Swords leading gun expert. His understand and knowledge of many types of firearms leads him to be on of our top RSO's when it comes to assisting new shooters and new gun owners with firearms questions and operations. Brett brings years of shooting knowledge and experience, as well as training for competitions, and armed private security.
Brett lives and breaths firearms and it is his biggest passion. But a close second is the fighting world. Brett has well over a decade of self-defense, and MMA training, where he studied under some of the top trainers and fighters in the country. Besides the fighting world, he focuses heavily on his 3 daughters, and enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. Family is the most important factor in his life bringing a wholesome touch to the Modern Sword Family.

Roman Tressler is the Chief Range Safety Officer, Firearms instructor and part owner of Modern Sword. Roman is a US Army, combat veteran and served overseas during Operation Enduring Freedom. While in military service, he has completed various trainings such as training with Infantry units, Military Operations on Urban Terrain training (M.O.U.N.T Training) , Convoy Operations, Combat Life Saver (CLS) Course, trained with the 1st Special Forces Group on various tactics and weapon systems (He makes it very known he was NOT in the special forces), trained with Baltimore PD S.W.A.T, and various NRA Courses and certifications. He brings real world tactics, knowledge, and experience to Modern Sword and their students.
